It has been observed that a large number of Diploma holders in Pharmacy work as pharmacists and that they do not get opportunity to obtain a degree. This college is a boon to such people. It proposes for Diploma holders of this college lateral entry into Bachelor in Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) course at the Second Year level of B. Pharm. The college is going to offer unique course where students will enter after 10+2 (Science) and will complete Diploma in Pharmacy in two years. They will study further for next three years and obtain graduation in Pharmacy, i.e, B. Pharm. Charutar Vidya Mandai is grateful to Shri Bhikhubhai Patel and Shri Vijaybhai Patel (now in London) for their assurance for financial support.
It has been observed that in about all the six hundred colleges in our country Bachelor in Pharmacy (B. Pharm.) curriculum focuses mainly on Pharmaceutical Science course and that Clinical or Pharmacotherapeutic courses get scant coverage. A delegation of Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) of USA during its recent visit to India suggested to the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) to introduce clinicallyoriented courses. Consequent upon the suggestion, PCI has sent its proposal in this regard to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, which is reviewing the proposal in two directions:
(1) To educate and train students of
pharmacy to match the entry level Pharm D.
curriculum in US.
(2) To introduce a five-year Pharm D.
programme in India to make the students
eligible to apply to Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) & North American Pharmacist Licensure
Examination (NAPLEX).
Since Charutar Vidya Mandal fulfills all the
conditions laid down by PCI the stage is all
set to start Pharm D course here in Vallabh
Vidyanagar which will have the honour to be
one of the only twenty institutes in the
entire country to launch the course-one
more feather in the cap of Charutar Vidya
Mandal.
